The band was formed in 1979<sup id=\"cite_ref-2\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>\u00a0in\u00a0<a title=\"Tamanrasset\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tamanrasset\">Tamanrasset<\/a>,\u00a0Algeria, but returned to Mali after a\u00a0cease-fire in the 1990s.\u00a0<sup id=\"cite_ref-3\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>The group first started to gain a following outside the Sahara region in 2001 with the release of\u00a0<i><a title=\"The Radio Tisdas Sessions\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Radio_Tisdas_Sessions\">The Radio Tisdas Sessions<\/a><\/i>, and with performances at\u00a0<a title=\"Festival au D\u00e9sert\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Festival_au_D%C3%A9sert\">Festival au D\u00e9sert<\/a>\u00a0in Mali<sup id=\"cite_ref-4\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>\u00a0and the\u00a0Roskilde Festival\u00a0in Denmark.<sup id=\"cite_ref-5\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>\u00a0Their popularity rose internationally with the release of the critically acclaimed\u00a0<i><a title=\"Aman Iman\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Aman_Iman\">Aman Iman<\/a><\/i>\u00a0in 2007.\u00a0NPR\u00a0calls the group \u201cmusic\u2019s true rebels\u201d,<sup id=\"cite_ref-6\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>\u00a0<a title=\"AllMusic\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/AllMusic\">AllMusic<\/a>\u00a0deems the group\u2019s music \u201ca grassroots voice of rebellion\u201d,\u00a0and Slate\u00a0calls the group \u201crock \u2018n\u2019 roll rebels whose rebellion, for once, wasn\u2019t just metaphorical\u201d<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 50%;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/sxsKEf7ueS0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 50%;\"><span style=\"color: #00ffff;\"><strong>ANNA RF (ISRAEL)<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>anna RF is an Electro \u2013 Ethnic \u2013 Reggae group.\u00a0The phrase anna RF is an Arabic-Hebrew expression which has a double meaning \u2013 \u201cI know\u201d and \u201cI don\u2019t know\u201d, that is the concept behind the band.\u00a0The band was formed in a tiny desert village called \u201cShaharut\u201d, Anna RF\u00a0creates music that combines the beauty of different cultures and brings people together in a joyful celebration of unity. The groups sound is a mix between east & west, blending ancient and modern instruments with a live-electronic touch. The message of the songs is one of happiness and freedom.\u00a0anna RF is also about visual art and collaborations.
